Who We Are...
Meals on Wheels was established in Weld County, April 1, 1970.
This non-profit organization was established by Mary Margaret Cox.
The program was housed out of Bonell Good Samaritan Community
in Greeley, Colorado for many years. When the program was established,
twenty-four meals were served by eight volunteers.
The program has grown through the years and has expanded to serve all
of Weld County, the largest county in Colorado. In 2003 Meals on Wheels
moved to a new location. The new location included our own kitchen facilities.
All meals are prepared fresh daily from this location.
In 2012, over 55,000 hot meals in addition to over 8,000
cold breakfast meals were delivered to clients.
The administrative office is housed at the Greeley Location
Mary Margaret Cox is the Executive Director
Tanya Trujillo-Martinez is the Associate Director
Three part-time employees work in the packaging area, individually packaging meal components, as well as getting the meals coordinated
for each specific route. The packaging area is supervised and coordinated
by Mary Mendoza. She is assisted by Denice Boshers & Socorro Casares.
The kitchen is supervised by Janice Thompson, who is assisted by
Jeffery Thompson. A Certified Nutrition Professional supervises
all special diets & meals that are prepared and sent out of our kitchen.
Since clients are served throughout Weld County, we have program locations
in Ft. Lupton, the Tri-Town area and Carr.
Deb Landreth coordinates the Ft. Lupton program and Holly Oxley
is the coordinator for the Tri-Town area program.
Volunteers are an esential component of our program, without them we
could not successfully function! Since Weld County is so large, we have
the assistance of over 30 volunteers daily who deliver over 150 meals.
Currently we have over 400 volunteers on our registry.
It is through the passion and dedication of our employees & volunteers
that we have the ability to make a difference in the lives of others!
